The IMPACT partnership between Des Moines Public Schools (DMPS) and Iowa State University’s School of Education (SOE) began in August 2019.
Creation of IMPACT Coordinating Council (CC) with representatives from both teams, DMPS and SOE.
Initial meetings of CC.
SOE team paired with DMPS schools to build trusting relationships with the teachers by:
- attending building-level Professional Learning Community meetings for Algebra 1
- observing in classes
SOE team started collecting data by:
- Conducting interviews with teachers
- Holding focus groups with students
- Collecting 7Cs student surveys
SOE team continued building relationships with teachers and collecting any pending data from Fall 2019
Mid-March, DMPS moved to optional online learning for the remainder of the year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which impacted our plans to conduct additional data collection and finalize the fidelity measure.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the collection of data has been on hold.
