Kevin Kane is the former Director of the Geographic Information Systems Support and Research Facility at Iowa State University and adjunct assistant professor in the department of Landscape Architecture, now retired. He also formerly served as the Associate Dean for Research and Outreach and Associate Director of the Institute for Design Research and Outreach in the College of Design. He is now retired and working on special projects for the university.

Dr. Kane's research focuses on geographic information systems, natural resources, history, design research, and higher education. Since 1996 he has been involved in 70 external contracts and grants totaling $7.1M in projects, $3.6M as lead principal investigator.

Previous to his work at Iowa State University he served as the GIS Coordinator at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Adjunct Assistant Professor of GIS at Drake University.
