Eric Brown, Ph.D., CHE

Eric Brown is the Richard Mahoney and Lois Hartman Professor of Hospitality Management and Associate Chair for Undergraduate Academic Affairs at Iowa State University. An accomplished scholar and academic leader, Dr. Brown specializes in hospitality management, human resources, and leadership development.

His research examines employee retention, workforce development, and organizational culture, with recent focus on how automation, artificial intelligence, and micro-moments shape employee well-being and career preparedness in the hospitality industry. He has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and frequently presents at national and international conferences.

Beyond research, Dr. Brown has advanced curriculum innovation, accreditation, and faculty development, serving previously as Program Director for Hospitality Management and as a commissioner for the Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration (ACPHA). Recognized for his collaborative leadership and commitment to mentorship, he was honored with the 2025 Faculty Collegiality Award from International CHRIE.
