Graduate Students
Graduate students enter the lab for PhD and Master’s research through one of the interdepartmental graduate degree programs that Dr. Vollbrecht is a member of:
- Interdepartmental Genetics and Genomics (IGG)
- Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (BCB)
- Interdepartmental Plant Biology (IPB)
- Molecular Cellular and Developmental Biology (MCDB)
Undergraduate Students
We regularly provide paid research experience to a team of approximately 10 undergraduate students. These positions usually start with training in basic laboratory and field research techniques, followed by a one-on-one project with a graduate student or postdoctoral scholar as a research mentor. Research credit is another option for select students, through BIOL 490.
We also host undergraduate students from outside of ISU for summer internships either independently or through one of several existing programs
