Liquid-like diffusion in Pb/Si with STM.
This video shows the unusual liquid-like motion of lead atoms on nanoscale lead-on-silicon islands. The yellow structures are islands, and the lighter color illustrates the movement of the lead atoms to the island top from the surrounding area. Here, the lead atoms move on a five -layer island to create a seven-layer superstable island. Real-time for the video is 15 minutes T=240 K.
