Welcome to ARPES

We study electronic properties of quantum materials using Angle Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy. These materials are critical for further advancing technilogical progress in production, transmission and conservation of energy, processing and storage of data and yes, amusing ourselves with fascinating physics. The knowledge of electronic properties is essential for understanding the macroscopic propeties, design, discovery and control of novel materials. We develop novel instrumentation and techniques to further those goals.

Our group is always looking for highly motivated graduate students interested in studying novel qunatum materials. Our graduate students have access to state of the art instrumentation and some of the best single crystal samples in the world that are grown right here in Ames Laboratory.
