Tom R Maier

I joined the Baum lab in December 1995, as a Research Associate and lab manager. My current role is as an Assistant Scientist/Lab Manager in the Baum lab, providing management of personnel and lab resources, technical support for the personnel and materials for the ongoing research projects. I am also involved in an ongoing project to isolate gland cells from various genera of plant parasitic nematodes. Utilizing next-gen sequencing technologies, our aim is to develop gland cell transcriptomes from which we can identify novel effectors as well and provide new insight into understanding nematode parasitism and its evolutionary origins, ultimately in an attempt to devise novel nematode control strategies.
