Mentoring Statement

As a hands-on professor, I am deeply committed to providing my students with a high-quality research and academic experience. To ensure this level of engagement, I intentionally maintain a small lab group, allowing me to work closely with each student in a meaningful and impactful way.

In my lab, I prioritize work-life harmony, progress over perfection, and individualized mentorship that aligns with each student’s career aspirations. I tailor their experiences to equip them with the skills they need to succeed, whether in academia, health care, Extension, or other professional paths. This is achieved through experiential learning opportunities, participation in professional development conferences, manuscript publications, and other high-impact learning experiences that foster critical thinking, leadership, and scholarly growth.

My goal is to create an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and empowered to take ownership of their learning while developing the confidence and expertise necessary to excel in their chosen careers.
