Lynna Chu
Position
- Assistant Professor
I am an Assistant Professor of Statistics at Iowa State University. I earned my PhD in Biostatistics from UC Davis under the supervision of Hao Chen, following undergraduate studies at UCLA.
My research focuses on developing nonparametric and graph-based methods for high-dimensional and complex data types. I specialize in creating robust methodology for pattern discovery and statistical inference in settings where traditional model-based approaches are often unreliable—such as non-Euclidean or high-dimensional data. This work spans a range of methodological and applied problems, from pattern discovery and monitoring to questions of design and inference.
Much of my work is motivated by applying statistical thinking to real-world challenges. I enjoy collaborating with researchers across fields to ensure that new methodology is not only theoretically sound, but also practically useful for the problems they face.
