Susan Stewart is a social demographer and professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Iowa State University. She is the author of several books and has published her research in a range of journals including Demography, Journal of Marriage and Family, Journal of Family and Economic Issues, Journal of Adolescent Health, Pediatrics, and Population Research and Policy Review. Her research broadly focuses on gender, family diversity, and health, with a current emphasis on alcohol use among women and LGBTQ+ populations. She teaches courses on demography, gender and sexualities, and families. Her research has been supported by grants from the NICHD, USDA, Joint Center for Poverty Research, and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
