Developmental Effects on Aging

Text Card Example

My major research interest is in "developmental theory of aging". We are focusing on answering the question "how do developmental factors affect aging?" By using fruit flies as a model organism, we are trying to understand the relationship between tissue development and adult physiology, especially the role of innate immunity pathway in this process.

Button Example

UMAP of W1118 and PTTH mutant from newly emerged adult

Single Neuclei RNA sequence

To study the function of Innate Immunity Pathway at metamorphosis/pupa development/sex maturation stage, we use sn-RNA sequence to understand the tissue integrity, tissue identity and tissue homeostasis changes that promotes lifespan at adulthood.

Heat Map of IMD pathway during the transition from Juvenile to adult.

Bulk RNA sequence

By using bulk RNA sequence, we are trying understand how the changes during the transition from Juvenile to adult influence the adult fitness including lifespan and healthspan. Those changes could be cell signaling pathway, like Innate Immunity pathway and Sting/CGAS pathway.
