Biosketch-Dr. Canic

Professor Canic is currently serving as a Full Professor at the University of California Berkeley; she also holds a Cullen Distinguished Professorship position at the University of Houston. In addition, she has been serving on the Board of Governors of the Institute for Mathematics and its Applications in Minneapolis. Professor Canic has research expertise in Fluid-Structure interactions (FSI) governed by PDE’s, the mathematical modeling of endovascular stents, biomedical research in general, and umerical and computational methods in FSI dynamics. Professor Canic has published more than 90 journal papers, and is co-author of the recent graduate level textbook “Progress in Mathematical Fluid Dynamics” (with Tristan Buckmas- ter, Peter Constantin, Alexander A. Kiselev). She was also honored for her research by NSF, NIH and is the recipient of Fellow awards from American Mathematical Society and Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics.
