- Assistant Professor
Dr. Lee is a tenure-track assistant professor in counseling psychology at Iowa State University where she directs the Contextual, Allyship, Race, and Empowerment (CARE) Lab. She earned her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology and a Measurement & Quantitative Methodology Certificate from Loyola University Chicago. She completed her doctoral internship at the University of Texas at Austin Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC).
The key areas of her research include 1) the impact of oppression (e.g., racism, systemic oppression) on marginalized communities, 2) understanding how sociocultural context shapes relationships that impact mental health and well-being for Asian Americans including immigrants, and 3) examining immigrant-specific concerns (e.g., hwa-byung, migratory grief). She is also passionate about developing community-based interventions that are culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically appropriate for diverse populations.
