My research applies biochemical and molecular biology tools to investigate the molecular mechanisms governing the life cycle of parasite Toxoplasma gondii. A core focus is the role of protein translation and other pathways in driving the critical transition from the acute to the chronic stage of infection. This chronic stage represents a critical, untreatable reservoir of infection in nearly one-third of the global population. My goal is to identify parasite-unique regulatory pathways within this process as novel therapeutic targets against this pervasive parasite.
