W. Robert Stephenson is Professor Emeritus of Statistics, University Professor Emeritus in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and Morrill Professor Emeritus at Iowa State University. He is a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. He regularly taught introductory courses in statistics, a second course in regression methods and a course in the statistical design and analysis of experiments. He has been involved in the Advanced Placement Statistics program as a reader and table leader for a number of years and served as the higher education co-chair of the AP Statistics Test Development Committee from 2013 through 2017. He has won a number of teaching awards both at Iowa State University (Louis Thompson Distinguished Undergraduate Teaching Award, Cassling Family Faculty Award for Undergraduate Teaching, Master Teacher for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, James Huntington Ellis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Introductory Teaching and the Iowa State University Foundation Award for Mid-Career Achievement in Teaching) and nationally (American Statistical Association Waller Distinguished Teaching Career Award, American Statistical Association Founders Award, Outstanding Distance Learning Faculty Award from General Motors, Mu Sigma Rho (the National Statistical Honor Society) Statistical Education Award). He is past editor of the Journal of Statistics Education. His research interests are in statistics education and applications of statistics to industry.
