Mechanisms of Vascular Dysfunction in Cancer Survivors
Cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death in cancer survivors, presumably stemming from anticancer therapies, such as chemotherapy, accelerating aging of the cardiovascular system. If we can identify mechanisms to target to attenuate the cardiovascular dysfunction in cancer survivors, we may be able to help lower the cardiovascular disease risk in this at-risk population. We are examining whether Vitamin C, an antioxidant, acutely alters vascular function in cancer survivors and matched controls.
We will assess aerobic fitness, body composition, and heart and arterial blood vessel health in individuals 18-70 years of age with a history of cancer treated with chemotherapy, and age- and sex-matched controls. Use this link to start our eligibility survey.
