SNP Genotyping
Genotyping is a measurement of the variations in genes within members of a species.
Missouri17(Mo17) as mentioned before was questioned if the sequenced Mo17 was the actual
Mo17. Single nucleotied polymorphisms(SNP) is one of a common type of variation in genes.
SNP is a single base pair mutation at a specific spot on a chromosone, most often on two
alleles. SNP-typing Experiments were conducted following the Sequenom iPLEX Assay application
note (Oeth, 2005) using ~ 1,000 SNPs. Genotyping data were acquired using the Sequenom
Typer3.4 software. Only co-dominant markers that B73 and Mo17 have different SNP calls
were used for the further analysis.
