Student Unions and Disunions: How students, faculty, and staff relationships get embedded in campus life

Campus places play a key role in shaping the relationship networks that students, faculty, and staff develop on campus. I will highlight recent research drawing on social network analysis to illuminate how space and social forces combine to produce patterns in how people build community. These insights can then be used for individual student development activities and institutional assessment to shape community-based spaces and programming.
