Position
  • Assistant Professor
Prior to arriving at Iowa State, I was a Project Scientist within the Mesoscale and Microscale Meteorology Laboratory at the NSF-National Center For Atmospheric Research (NCAR), following three years as an Advanced Study Program postdoctoral fellow. I completed my Ph.D. in Meteorology and Atmospheric Science at Pennsylvania State University where I worked with the Fuqing Zhang and Steven Greybush. I also received my undergraduate degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

My research interests are centered around the predictions of extreme weather events across timescales. My research has specifically focused on improving the predictability of extreme weather events, such as tropical cyclones, and better understanding their dynamics through the use of data assimilation and high-resolution ensemble forecasts. Current projects include (1) leveraging satellite observations to improve predictions of African Easterly Waves and tropical extreme rainfall and (2) diagnosing drivers of subseasonal hurricane variability and quantifying predictability.
