Jonathan Stevenson

I am a Ph.D. student studying Meteorology at Iowa State University. My research interests include atmospheric dynamics and numerical modeling, and my current research involves improving the predictability of tropical convection and extreme rainfall. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Texas Tech University in May 2025 (Wreck ‘em Tech!). During my time as an undergrad, I did a research project where I was able to run the Cloud Model 1 (CM1) to simulate four different thunderstorms in subtle forcing environments and created visualizations using GrADS scripts. I also volunteered at the National Weather Service office in Lubbock, Texas for seven months where I assisted in typical operational duties. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska, but I am of Texan background. In my free time, I enjoy watching college sports, playing pool with friends, fishing, hiking, and the outdoors in general.
