Itzel is a Research Scientist III, broadly interested in how environmental factors influence development from a molecular and phenotypic perspective. She has worked extensively on evo-devo and functional genomic questions related to sex determination in turtles, other reptiles, and fish. She is currently developing functional genomic tools in turtles.
