Kamal’s Lab at the Department of Kinesiology and Health, Iowa State University, is pleased to welcome Namitha Bannimath as our newest Ph.D. student. Namitha brings a rich multidisciplinary background with Master’s degrees in Toxicology (University of Galway) and Pharmacology (JSS University, Mysore), alongside research experience in breast cancer trials, neuropharmacology, and collaborative toxicological assessments with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
Her doctoral research will focus on bone–muscle communication mediated by exosomes in challenging conditions such as spaceflight, aging, disuse, and muscular dystrophy, aligning closely with our lab’s mission to unravel musculoskeletal health dynamics. Outside the lab, Namitha enjoys photography, traveling, and exploring diverse cuisines. Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Namitha as she embarks on this exciting journey
