Morgan Kaardal
Position
- Graduate Research Assistant
- MS in Sustainable Agriculture
Background: I grew up in Minnesota and received a B.S. in Economics and a B.A. in International Studies from the University of St. Thomas in Saint Paul, Minnesota. After graduation, I worked for an economic development organization helping companies locate in the Twin Cities or helping local companies expand. During this time, I worked with many innovative agriculture companies that were attempting to mitigate the environmental impact of agriculture but coming up against systematic barriers. This inspired me to pursue a master's in Sustainable Agriculture focusing on economic incentives for sustainable practices.
Research Interests: During my master's, I will research potential revenue sources to incentivize farmer's implementing prairie strips, a best management practice. I will pursue three potential funding areas: beekeeping, hunting leases and corporate finance.
Personal Interests: I am an avid reader and documentary watcher. I also love hiking and am constantly searching for new hiking locations in Iowa.
