At Kansas State University, my Master's research project involved determining the influence of spray coverage and application frequency on insecticide efficacy against two important greenhouse insect pests, citrus mealybug and western flower thrips. I learned extensively about greenhouse pest management and insecticides through this research program, which further increased my interest in entomology and pest management.
I eventually decided to start working with agricultural pests. Currently, I am a Ph.D. student in Dr. Aaron Gassmann's laboratory. My research project at Iowa State University involves characterizing differences in pest insect movement, survival, and damage to crops among different corn hybrids (Bt vs. Non-Bt, Short corn vs. Conventional corn).
